Breakthrough T1D is committed to supporting the next generation of clinical and research leaders in type 1 diabetes. A limited number of Travel Grants will be awarded to outstanding abstract submitters to help offset the costs of attending the inaugural Breakthrough T1D Clinical & Research Congress (CRC) in Philadelphia, PA.
Grant Amount and Registration
Up to USD 1,000 for participants based in the United States
Up to USD 1,500 for participants based outside the United States
Travel Grants are intended to help cover eligible expenses related to attending the Congress, such as travel and accommodation. The grant is provided as a reimbursement of actual expenses, up to the approved amount, and requires receipts.

Travel Grants are intended to support eligible travel-related expenses, such as transportation and accommodation, and are provided as a reimbursement of actual expenses, up to the approved amount and subject to receipt submission.
In addition to financial support, Travel Grant recipients will be granted complimentary registration to the Congress.

The submitted abstract must be accepted by the Scientific Committee for presentation at CRC.Quality and merit
Travel Grants are awarded based on the scientific quality and overall merit of the abstract.Presenting author
The applicant must be the presenting author of the accepted abstract, and the applicant’s name must match the presenting author’s name in the submission system.
How to Apply
During the abstract submission process, select the option to be considered for a Travel Grant, and upload all required documents before submitting your abstract.
Important: It is the applicant’s responsibility to arrange travel and accommodation.
Required Documents
The following documents must be uploaded as part of the Travel Grant application:
Passport copy
A clear scan or photograph of the passport identification page.Cover Letter
A brief letter explaining the applicant’s motivation to attend CRC, the relevance of the Congress to their work, and why they should be considered for a Travel Grant.Short CV
A concise curriculum vitae outlining the applicant’s current position, training or career stage, and relevant academic or clinical experience.
Selection Process and Criteria
Complete applications will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. Selection is competitive and based on:
Scientific merit and innovation of the abstract
Relevance to the CRC mission and the broader T1D community
Anticipated benefit of Congress participation
Geographic location and travel burden
The number of Travel Grants is limited, and not all eligible applicants can be supported.
Notification
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their Travel Grant application by email after abstract review has been completed. Successful applicants will receive confirmation of the grant amount along with instructions for complimentary registration and reimbursement procedures.
Reimbursement and Disbursement
Travel Grants are provided as reimbursement of eligible, documented expenses, up to the approved maximum amount. Original receipts will be required.
Further instructions regarding expense claims and timelines will be provided directly to Travel Grant recipients.
Breakthrough T1D reserves the right to withdraw or withhold Travel Grant support if the awardee does not attend the Congress in person, is not the presenting author, or fails to comply with the stated requirements.
